Waves of What Remains

Waves of What Remains explores the metaphorical aftershock of an earthquake, not only the physical tremors but also the emotional and social reverberations that follow. Drawing on the recurring seismic events across Asia, the work reflects on the resilience of communities who endure these disasters. It considers how, even in the aftermath of destruction, life continues. People adapt, rebuild, and carry on. Through movement, Waves of What Remains captures both the fragility and strength of human response in the face of profound disruption.

This is a duet that began as a research project during my time with Northern Colour 2024, part of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s Artist Development Programme. The early stages of the work were explored in collaboration with Louis Baxter and Aline Simo Kamga.

Premiere May 2025, Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre, Leeds
